Simple Vegetable Rice

2-3 Servings ~ 30 minutes
  • 2 Cups Sona Masuri/Basmati Rice
  • 2 Medium Onion - Thick Slices
  • 1 Medium Carrot
  • 3-4 French Beans
  • 1-2 Green Chillies - Slit to half
  • 1/8 Cup Fresh/Frozen green peas
  • 1 Tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • ½ Tsp Garam Masala
  • 4 Cups of Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp Oil

Simple Vegetable Rice

This is a Simple and fast one pot dish for working ladies and bachelors.

It can be made either for your lunch box or dinner.

Method:

– Pick, wash and soak the Rice for 15 minutes.
– In the mean while chop the carrots and beans to small pieces.
– Keep the water in a vessel to boil on medium heat.
– Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
– Add in onion, carrot, beans, green chillies and green peas and saute for 5 minutes on medium flame.
– Add the ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.
– Add Garam Masala powder and mix.
– Drain the rice in a sieve and add to the pressure cooker. Mix well stirring for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.
– Add the boiling water and salt to taste.
– When the water starts boiling again in the pressure cooker, close the lid and allow to cook for 1 whistle on medium flame.
– Switch off the flame and allow the pressure to release.
– Serve hot with raitha of your choice.

    I have tried a quite a lot of your recipes and they have come out really well..they are a hit in my place and i make them quite often now. Thx to you. I see that for quite a long time you have not posted any recipes, why? I like your blog and follow it. I like re-creating the recipes you post. Also i noticed that there are few recipes like Curry leaves rice and coriander leaves rice which are not there. please post them.
