Rava Idly

2-3 Servings ~ 20 Minutes
  • 1 Cup Rava/Sooji
  • ½ Tsp Mustard
  • ½ Tsp Ginger -Finely chopped/grated
  • 3-4 Green Chillies -Finely chopped
  • 1 Tsp Channa Dal
  • ¾ Cup Grated Carrot
  • 2 Tbsp/10-12 pieces Cashew - Optional
  • 3-4 Tbsp Coriander Leaves - Finely Chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Fresh/Frozen Grated Coconut
  • 1 pack Eno Fruit Salt Lemon flavor
  • 1 Cup Yogurt/Curd
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Tbsp Oil

Rava Idly

Try this easy instant rava Idly with the goodness of carrot.
Method:
– Roast Rava till a nice aroma comes out.
– Heat oil and add mustard seeds, allow spluttering.
– Add ginger, green chilies, channa dal and fry till channa dal changes colour.
– Switch off the heat & immediately add Rava, mix well.
– Add all the other ingredients except Eno fruit salt and mix well.
– Allow to rest for 15-30 minutes.  carrot, coriander leaves, coconut, and yogurt/curd and mix well.
– Grease an idli stand.
– Keep half cashew if you are using it.
– Now to the mixture add the Eno fruit salt and mix. It will bubble out.
– Immediately spoon out this mixture into the Idly molds.
– Steam for around 12-15mins on medium flame.
– Serve hot with coconut chutney or chutney of your choice.

      Regarding the Softness…The method says that add the eno fruit salt just before pouring the mixture into the mold. That is what gives the Rava Idly’s the sponginess. Please try again and let us know the outcome.
