Methi Pulao


2 cups of soaked rice
1 cup of methi leaves
1 onion,sliced lengthwise
1 tomato,sliced lengthwise
2 green chillies
Mustard seeds,for tempering
Cumin seeds,for tempering
Curry leaves,for tempering
Turmeric powder,for tempering
Red chilli powder,to taste.
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp of garam masala
1 tsp of coriander powder
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
Cashewnut,as required
Coriander leaves,as required
Fried onion,to garnish


-Heat oil in a cooker.Fry cashewnuts in it.
-Add mustard seeds,cumin seeds & curry leaves till they start crackling.
-Add onion,green chillies & turmeric powder.Mix well so that onions will become soft.
-Add tomato,methi leaves,red chilli powder,coriander powder & salt.Give a nice stir.
-Add coriander leaves & 4 cups of water & leave it to boil.
-Add rice & stir.Cover & cook upto 2 whistles.
-Garnish with fried onion & serve hot.
