Idly Manchurian


Leftover Idly    10-15
Onion               2 Medium (Diced)
Garlic               10-12 (Finely Chopped)
Ginger              1/2″ (Finely Chopped)
Green Chillies   2-3 (Slit to halves)
Tomato Sauce   3 Tbsp
Chilly Sauce       1 Tbsp
Soy Sauce         1 1/2 Tbsp
Oil                     4 Tsp (2+2)
Salt to taste
Coriander for Garnish (Finely Chopped)


-Cut the left-over Idly’s into cubes.
-Heat 2 tsp oil in a wok/kadai and add the idly’s.
-Fry them till crisp and slight golden brown on all sides. Keep this aside.
-Heat the rest of the oil in the same wok/kadai.
-Add in ginger, garlic & green chillies and fry for a minute.
-Then add the diced onion and fry till onion is translucent.
-Add in salt and all the sauces one by one, mix well.
-Now add the fried Idly’s and mix well on medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
-Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot.

  1. Hey, something very different from the normal Manchurian. Indeed this is more healthy as we are not deep frying the idly pieces. Have made this quite a few times at home for evening tea and a get to-gather as well. I was appreciated for this. Thanks to you for sharing such a easy and healthy recipe.
