The speciality of chicken curry from Chettinad is that it will be very spicey & very yummy…
250 gms chicken,cut into small pieces
2-4 dried red chillies
1 tsp of poppy seeds(khus khus)
1 tsp of coriander seeds
1/2 fresh coconut,scraped
1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
2 greed cardamoms
1 inch cinnamon
1 tsp saunf
1 tsp of ginger,chopped
1 tsp of garlic,chopped
1/2 cup oil
1 large onion,chopped
6-8 curry leaves
2 medium tomatoes,chopped
1 tsp of red chilly powder
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tbsp of lemon juice
Salt to taste
1 tbsp of chopped fresh coriander leaves
-Saute red chillies,coconut,poppy seeds,coriander seeds,cumin seeds,cardamoms,cloves,cinnamon,saunf separately in oil.
-Grind the sauteed spices with ginger & garlic to paste.
-Heat oil in a pan & saute onions till golden in color.
-Add curry leaves & the ground paste & saute for few minutes.
-Add tomatoes,red chilli powder & turmeric powder.
-Add chicken & mix well.
-Cook for five minutes,add one cup of water & lemon juice,cover & cook till the chicken is done.
-Garnish with coriander leaves & serve hot with boiled rice or parantas.
