1. 1 cup raw rice
2. 1/2 cup green gram dal
3. 1 cup milk
4. 3 cups jaggery powder
5. 4 tbsp ghee
6. 5 pieces of cashewnuts
7. 1 tbsp of kishmis
8. 5 no of cardamoms
9. 2 no of cloves
10. 1 small piece of nutmeg(jaiphal)-grated or powdered
11. 2 1/2 cups of water.
-Roast the dry green gram dal for a couple of minutes.
-Cook the rice & green gram dal with water & milk in the cooker & leave it for 4 whistles.
-Dissolve the jaggery in water & cook on a low heat till the jaggery melts.
-Strain the jaggery to remove the dirt.
-Put the syrup once more on the heat & stir till it becomes slightly sticky.
-Add the cooked rice & dal.
-Heat 4tbsp of ghee.Fry the cashewnuts & kishmis & add to the pongal.
-Add the powdered cardamoms,cloves & jaiphal.
-Mix well & serve hot.
