Mango Rice

  • 1 big raw mango
  • 5 green chillies
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 1 small piece jaggery
  • 2 cups of steamed rice
  • 1 spn mustard seeds
  • 2 sliced onion
  • 2 tbspn urad dal
  • 2 tbspn chana dal
  • 3 tbspn groundnuts
  • salt to taste
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 spoon turmeric powder
  • coriander leaves
  • oil
  • curry leaves

Mango Rice

Method:

-Take a cooker & boil the rice with a pinch of salt & keep aside.
-Peel the skin of mango & grate it.
-Pour 3 tbsp of hot water in a bowl & add jaggery & leave it 2 melt & pour it on the grated mango,mix well.
-Take a pan, pour oil, fry chana dal, urad dal & groundnuts, keep it aside.
-Add mustard seeds, dry red chillies & curry leaves.
-Add onion, green chillies, salt & turmeric. Mix it well.
-Remove the excess content of water from the mango bowl. Add it in pan & mix well.
-Then finally add the cooked rice.

  1. Hi, I am from Chennai and live in Canada now. I do not visit home very often and miss all the delicious food we cooked at home. I make it a point to cook recipes when i find fresh ingredients. This time I found raw mangoes in the supermarket and wanted to make the Mango rice, remembered seeing this recipe in your blog, followed your recipe and viola, it was awesome. Thx to you. I follow the recipes posted and have seen that you were not posting for a long time now. Good to see that you are posting new recipes.
